RESPUTINE
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
Make an oath. Choose a weapon. Walk into something older than the road.
RESPUTINE is a hand-authored narrative RPG that runs in your terminal —
voiced, scored, and built to be played in one short sitting. One night, one
hero, about 25 minutes. Something in the dark is paying attention.
── What it is ──────────────────────────────────
Full voice acting — narration and named characters
Original music that knows where you are in the story
A d20-inspired dice system — no tabletop background needed
Two kinds of fight — one driven by the dice, another by instinct
An in-game codex — lore, inventory, dice history
~25 minutes
── How to play ─────────────────────────────────
Windows: unzip the folder anywhere, then double-click run.bat
Linux: unzip the folder, right-click inside → "Open in Terminal",
then type ./run.sh
First launch sets itself up (~30s, once); after that it's instant.
(On Linux it also adds a RESPUTINE icon to your apps menu.)
── What you need ───────────────────────────────
Windows or Linux, with Python 3. Every mainstream Linux already has it;
on Windows, install it from python.org (tick "Add python to PATH").
Internet for the first launch only — it fetches a few small packages,
then never again.
Sound strongly recommended — voice and music are half of it.
── The world ───────────────────────────────────
Part I is a complete, self-contained night: a paladin, an oath, and a
town the dark has been quietly emptying. Each part of RESPUTINE is its
own hero and class — the paladin's oath now; a mage and her familiar,
and others, to come — its own night, the same entity underneath.
Each stands on its own.
── Difficulty ──────────────────────────────────
Approachable and fair. The dice never cheat you — a loss is always
something you saw coming, never the math turning on you behind your
back. It runs gentle: here to be played, not to beat you.
── What to expect ──────────────────────────────
Not a generator or a sandbox. Every line was placed by hand.
The game knows what it wants you to feel — and helps you get there.
── Content notes ───────────────────────────────
Dark themes. An entity that asks. Loss.
Made by one rogue.

No Python? Grab it free at python.org — tick "Add python to PATH".
If SmartScreen warns, choose: More info → Run anyway.
LINUX
1. Unzip this folder anywhere.
2. Right-click inside the folder → "Open in Terminal."
3. Type ./run.sh and press Enter.
